SELF CARE IS A REVOLUTIONARY ACT
“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation,
and that is an act of political warfare.”

THE ART OF REST
Black Womxn United (BWU) is excited to launch "The Art of Rest," a holistic arts program designed to provide healing and empowerment through creative and sensory experiences. This initiative comprises four key components: a monologue workshop, half-day retreats, sound baths, and a community girls choir named "Daughters of the Sun." Our mission is to curating spaces where we honor the power of pause, creativity, and community to nurture the souls of Black women and redefine what it means to truly rest. By allowing Black women and girls to express themselves freely, they find solace, and interrupt cycles of trauma and violence through the power of the arts and comprehensive support.
Our focus is curating spaces where we honor the power of pause, creativity, and community to nurture the souls of Black women and redefine what it means to truly rest.
It is essential that Black femmes are cared for because of the multiple layers of aggression and oppression that we face without relief.
When left unaddressed these social barriers cascade into many stress-triggered ailments, including early death. BWU is dedicated to being the soft-landing space that provides the tools for accepting and receiving care.
